2 Hospitalized After SUV Smashes Into Groveland Assisted Living Center

A Lexus SUV crashed into an Essex County assisted living center, injuring the driver as well as people inside the building, officials say.

A Lexus RX350 SUV smashed into an assisted living center located at 1 Nichols Way in Groveland around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 24, according to the Groveland Fire Department. 

Two people inside the multi-family unit were injured, as well as the SUV's 83-year-old driver.

Groveland police officers pulled the driver from the SUV. Both the driver and an 84-year-old woman who had been inside the building were treated at the scene before being taken via ambulance to a local hospital. 

The other injured person was treated at the scene.  

Officials will work with the Groveland Building inspector to stabilize the building and prepare for the removal of the SUV. 

National Grid is also on the scene to ensure the gas system is safe.
